The McNulty Society
The McNulty Society recognizes and honors those extraordinary individuals who have made the USMMA Alumni Association and Foundation, Inc. (11-6037948) the beneficiary in their planned gifts in the amount of $10,000 or more. Donations of this stature provide substantial future support for our Academy and Regiment of Midshipmen.
Named after Admiral Richard R. McNulty, who was instrumental in calling public attention to the need for a federal maritime officer training school, the McNulty Society was established to honor the inspiring generosity and vision of donors who live the Academy’s motto, Acta Non Verba.

RADM Richard R. McNulty is generally is accepted as the founder of the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy. A merchant marine officer from 1917-1920 and a World War II veteran, McNulty long advocated for the creation of the Academy. He supervised its operations before becoming the Academy’s third Superintendent in 1946, a post he held to 1948. More infoTHE MCNULTY SOCIETY
The McNulty Society was inaugurated in 1990 to show appreciation to alumni and friends who have made provisions in their wills or other planned gifts for the future of the Academy and to encourage others to do the same. These member benefactors have enabled the USMMA Alumni Association and Foundation, Inc. to fund necessary Academy needs and to support the Regiment of Midshipmen and other services which are not included in the Academy budget.A gift provision of $10,000 or more receives membership into the McNulty Society. Gifts made to the USMMA Alumni Association and Foundation, Inc. can be your legacy to the Academy. A planned gift will perpetuate your interest and support your alma mater for many years to come.
